American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Your Breast Cancer Surgery Program

Your Breast Cancer Surgery program provides you with the knowledge and training to support your participation in your surgical preparation and optimal recovery. Diagnosis, testing and treatment options are fully reviewed. How to prepare for surgery including exercise guidelines, medication and a quit smoking plan are included. Recovery at home and complication and recurrence prevention includes exercise reinforcement, surgical site and drain care and a safe pain control plan. Self-care and additional therapies including radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and complementary therapies are explained and a Discharge Treatment Summary and Survivorship Plan is provided.

This standardized program has been developed by the American College of Surgeons along with the Commission on Cancer (COC) and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
